One of my favorite things about San Diego is the Zoo. Whenever friends come visit I like to take them there. Here are some shots from two of my trips to the Zoo.

The first animals you see when you enter the zoo are the flamingos. This is a shot of their reflections in their pool.

The flamingos color gets darker as they get older.

They sleep on one leg.

Mother flamingo teaching the baby how to stand on those long legs. The baby would hold the mom's beak with its mouth and then try to stand.

The peacocks are walking around loose much to the bus drivers dismay.

The orginal water repellent coat.

Duckling

This was some kind of bird of prey. It had huge claws for catching prey. These zebras were rough housing just like little kids.

Homies.

The giraffes were really used to people. On the right you can see one giving the lady a kiss.

Crowd admiring the baby. If I remember correctly when they are born they fall about 5 feet to the ground.

My friend Christina checking out a snake skeleton. I dont remember what this guy on the right was but hes cool.

Looking at a rhino is probably pretty close to looking at a real dinosaur. The camels are constantly chewing and spitting.

Not sure what this animal is on the right, but he was motionless for about 5 minutes.

Hello panda and a sleepy koala.

Polar bear not feeling the San Diego heat.

You thought you had wrinkles. Check out this elephant.

Snack time.

My favorite part of the zoo is the primates. These guys have so much personality.

The thinker.

Not sharing.

More thinking.

The silverbacks are my favorites. A mom and children engaged in a staring contest. The zoo employee at the exhibit said that if the male sees someone standing by the glass not paying attention he will run up and hit the glass as hard as he can. Must be pretty damn hard. One of the panes of the 6 layer safety glass was shattered.

While everyone was watching this guy he got up to take a poop and I swear he was smiling afterwards.

Who needs a dentist?

Croc tail and some kind of cactus or succulent.

Come back soon!
